I find all of my compositions in nature, sometimes with structures, or any shapes or lines that I see. Using marks and paint to build up the surface, I enjoy walking the tightrope between creating an image that is abstract and also representative enough

My paintings start with many layers of acrylic glazes, and I also add texture with handmade papers or other materials. Grid marks, sketch lines, and remnants of materials remain embedded in the work, so that some marks from every layer are in the finished piece--the process becomes the narrative.
